The Town of Halton Hills recognizes the importance of the agricultural sector to the economic well being of our community; provincially this sector represents one of every seven jobs in Ontario. In order to maintain this vital component of our economy the Town of Halton Hills is once again hosting the Annual Agricultural Community Meeting on November 13, 2008.

An exciting and informative agenda has been prepared which deals with major issues for the farm community and what assistance is available for them. The speakers include Tony Brull of MPAC who will be providing information on the recent assessments and how the new values impact the Agricultural Community. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs represented by Dorene Collins will present programs that are available for individual farmers and the overall farm community.

Bruce MacLean from the Town of Halton Hills will discuss Sustainable Halton: How do Farmers Fit In? With the expected growth in the community the agricultural sector will be under increased pressure as it shares the area with new urban dwellers.

The final speaker will be Chris Mills Director of Infrastructure Services and Town Engineer who will provide updates on past concerns such as road maintenance, building permits and traffic congestion on rural roads.

Mayor Rick Bonnette and members of Council will be in attendance to answer your questions and concerns. If you are member of the Agricultural Community this is a great opportunity to meet with Council and Staff and to participate with leading experts in the agricultural industry.
