(NC) – Deck the halls, celebrities love the holiday season. “I put the tree up on the first of December, and I don’t take it down till March. It drives my husband nuts, but the kids and I love it,” says comedian Jessica Holmes.

There are some holiday traditions that are uniquely Canadian. Dan Hamhuis of the Vancouver Canucks says he loves “working off turkey dinner by going sledding or playing pond hockey with my cousins.”

The holidays are a great time to let friends and family know how much they mean to you. “I love to surprise friends and family with drop in visits over the holidays, most of the time with a bottle of wine and Christmas cookies,” says ET Canada Host, Rick Campanelli.

Comedian and actor Colin Mochrie loves the charitable aspect of the holidays and invites Canadians to branch out this year. “Do at least one charitable event as a family during the holiday season,” Mochrie encourages. One of his seasonal traditions is giving gifts through the World Vision Gift Catalogue, available at worldvision.ca/gifts. “I love that the Catalogue is filled with gifts that that help people and communities around the world, whether it be livestock, medicine or school supplies. To be able to give a gift that keeps on giving is lovely.”

Some celebrities create a unique family tradition by taking a twist on the classics. Canada AM Host, Marci Ien, looks forward to the new year, “Our family and some close friends have a sleepover at our place on New Year’s Eve. We have a feast and then watch classic movies!”

Celebrities, like Canadians across the country, are looking forward to spending time with loved ones, enjoying delicious food and creating fun memories.
