Tuesday April 27, 2010

00:44 Hours – Responded to a reported tree fire on 9185 Third Line and met with Milton Fire Department upon arrival. Tree had been cut down and fire crews checked for any remaining fires to be extinguished. Returned to Station.

14:02 Hours – Burn complaint at 12976 Silvercreek Drive. Nobody home upon our arrival and no evidence of any fire having been conducted on the property. Returned to Station.

19:04 Hours – Firefighters responded to the Library at 9 Church Street to free 2 occupants trapped in the buildings’ elevator. Staff were able to lower the elevator to the main floor and open the doors freeing the occupants. Library Staff were advised to take the elevator out of service until a thorough checkup by qualified elevator technicians could be completed.

Wednesday April 28, 2010

03:52 Hours – A combination carbon monoxide/smoke alarm activated at 56 Corey Circle. Nothing was found and the owner was advised to place the device outside in fresh air for a couple of hours. If the device continues to activate, then replace it.

09:09 Hours – Staff responded to 1 Lookout Trail where they found a small pile of brush that had been burned and extinguished. A complete check of the surrounding area for any other evidence of previous fires was conducted but nothing was found.

15:39 Hours – Smoke alarm activation resulting from dust generated while drywall sanding, at a residence at 11172 Highway 25. No further action required.
18:10 Hours – A fire on the property of Valencia Farms 12268 15 Side road, which was thought to have been extinguished, flared up again and spread into nearby corn stalks and a woodpile. Fire Crews extinguished the fires and advised the owner to discontinue any future burns.

19:16 Hours – Burn complaint at 12976 Silvercreek Drive. Minimal fire remaining and the owner advised to let the fire burn out.

20:12 Hours – Fire alarm activation at St. Brigid School at 73 Miller Drive resulting from a small child grabbing onto a pull station. System reset immediately and no further action required.

Thursday April 29, 2010

15:33 Hours – The occupant of a residence at 12303 Fifth Line was cautioned after Fire Crews responded to a report of a male lighting a fire in the garage. The occupant was lighting a pot of charcoal in preparation of a process to melt down metal objects. No further action was necessary.

16:14 Hours – Fire Crews responded to a fire alarm activation at 82 Mill Street in Georgetown. The owner of the property was testing the alarm system and failed to notify his monitoring agent before hand.

Friday April 30, 2010

11:43 Hours – Fire Crews were called to 27 Pomeroy Court to help retrieve a dog that had fallen into a swimming pool. Before leaving the station, the caller called back to say the dog got himself out of the water.

16:35 Hours – Fire Crews extinguished a small fire beside the train tracks at the end of Carruthers Road. No damage resulted from the fire.

21:45 Hours – Fire crews responded to a single motor vehicle roll-over at 12363 Highway 7 in front of Cedar Springs Motel. Halton EMS and Halton Police Services were already on scene tending to the lone occupant already out of the vehicle. Ensuring no other hazards existed, Staff returned to the Station.

22:08 Hours – Open burning complaint at 63 Apple Blossom Court. Small fire to be extinguished and the owner advised of the Burn Permit requirements.

Sunday May 2, 2010

19:34 Hours – Burn complaint at 9 Matthew Court. Occupant was advised to obtain a Burn Permit for any future burns.

21:25 Hours – Staff checked out an unknown fire alarm panel problem at 46 Holmesway Place. The system reset without difficulty but the party was advised to have the system thoroughly checked for any faults and necessary repairs.

21:47 Hours – A faulty carbon monoxide detector is suspected for an alarm activation at 11 Deer Run Crescent. It was suggested that the owner replace the unit.

Milton Fire Department responded to one call in our area this past week.

Milton Fire Crews responded to the tree fire at 9185 Third Line. Once Halton Hills arrived, Milton returned to their Station.
