Monday March 22, 2010
11:25 Hours – Crews responded to a report of a grass fire at 9259 Fifth Line. Milton fire department was already on scene and had the fire extinguished before our crews arrived. No further assistance was required.

16:27 Hours – There was a smoke alarm activation at 126 Main Street South. No reason for the alarm activation could be found. The alarm system was reset and no further assistance was required.

Tuesday March 23, 2010
08:46 Hours – There was a CO alarm activation at 99 Dairy Drive. A faulty detector was determined to be the cause.

22:06 Hours – There was a report of a CO detector activation at 125 Church Street. Investigation revealed no CO present. The homeowner was advised to replace his alarm.

Wednesday March 24, 2010
15:05 Hours – Fire Crews responded to extinguish a grass fire at 11815 15 Side Road. The property owner was burning brush and a spark started a grass fire. The fire was extinguished and the owner was informed of the burn permit process, since no valid permit was in place for this site.

Property owners are reminded that open air burning is not permitted in Halton Hills unless approved by the Chief Fire Official. Permits are required and residents can obtain a permit from the fire department at the following locations, 21 Churchill Road S. Acton, 14007 10 Side Road or 53 Maple Avenue, Georgetown. Thursday March 25, 2010
17:04 Hours – Fire Fighters responded to investigate a suspicious package found on the ground in the area of 1 Hyland Avenue. The package was initially thought to contain a hazardous substance but, investigation revealed the product to be non-hazardous. No further assistance was required.

Friday March 26, 2010
11:32 Hours – Fire crews responded to the report of a grass fire on Hume Road. The call was passed along from Milton Fire who initially thought the location was in Halton Hills. Before our arrival however it was determined that the fire was actually on Hume Road in Puslinch. Puslinch fire department was already on scene and had extinguished the small fire. Our crews returned to the station.

15:20 Hours – Fire Fighters responded to the report of an alarm activation at 15251 Argyll Road. Arriving crews were met by Halton Regional Police who informed them that this was a prank call and that they were investigating to determine the source.

16:41 Hours – Fire Crews responded to extinguish a grass fire in a field adjacent to 11726 5 Side Road. The property owner, while attempting to extinguish the fire, sustained a broken arm and had to be transported to hospital. No permit had been issued for the location.

18:37 Hours – Fire Fighters responded to a fire alarm activation at 110 Main Street South. Investigation revealed that burnt food in an oven had caused the alarm. Crews assisted by ventilating the unit. No further assistance was required.

Saturday March 27, 2010
09:22 Hours – There was a report of a CO alarm activation at 182 Delrex Blvd. A faulty detector was determined to be the cause of the false alarm.

14:24 Hours – Fire crews responded to extinguish a grass fire in a field adjacent to the 56 Ann Street, Glen Williams. The source for the fire could not be determined.

16:58 Hours – Crews responded to the report of a CO alarm activation at 45 Seed House Lane. No evidence of CO could be found inside the home however levels of CO were detected in the garage. No source could be determined. The unit was ventilated and the homeowner was advised to replace his aging detector.

17:01 Hours – Fire Fighters responded to extinguish a smoldering piece of fence board behind a wooden barrel at 177 Rexway Drive. A discarded cigarette was determined to be the cause of the fire.

Sunday March 28, 2010
08:50 Hours – Burnt toast caused a fire alarm activation at the Jack Smythe Field Study Centre14592 Winston Church Blvd. No assistance was required.

17:48 Hours – Fire crews responded to the report of a CO activation with symptoms, at 10607 Third Line. No CO could be found in the home however two of the home’s occupants, who were experiencing symptoms, were taken to Milton Hospital for observation. Through the course of their investigation, fire fighters discovered a small hole in the exhaust from the furnace. The homeowner was advised to contact their service company and have the unit serviced.

19:59 Hours – Fire Fighters responded to the report of a vehicle on fire inside of a barn at 11820 10 Side Road. Once on scene, fire crews acted quickly to contain the fire to the 1997 GMC 3500 cube van. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

09:31 Hours – Milton fire department responded to an alarm activation at 8140 Fifth Line, Halton Hills. No other details available at this time.
