18:11 Hours – Alarm activation at Sheridan Nurseries located at 9674 Winston Churchill Boulevard. Alarm activated as a result of dust entering a detector while maintenance was being done. No further action required.

10:31 Hours – A natural gas line was struck while the homeowner was trying to remove a tree stump using a chainsaw on property at 132 Rexway Drive. Fire Department Staff monitored the levels of gas until Union Gas arrived and terminated the gas supply.
14:25 Hours – Fire Crews from Halton Hills and Mississauga worked together to extinguish approximately 10 – 15 acres of dry grass and vegetation in the area of 8779 Tenth Line. Dense smoke could be seen for miles as firefighters worked to bring the rapid spreading fire under control.
15:03 Hours – A faulty carbon monoxide detector was the suspected cause for an alarm activation at 11 Church Street West in Acton. Staff checked the residence for carbon monoxide but no readings were found.

01:00 Hours – Carbon monoxide detector activation at 3 Wilson Court. No readings of the deadly gas were found and Staff suspect a faulty detector as the cause.
Friday April 2, 2010
23:34 Hours – A small fire discovered adjacent to the river at the rear of Morden Neilson Way was extinguished by Fire Crews. No further information or details were available at this time.
00:42 Hours – Fire Crews checked throughout the area of 1 Maple Avenue and the Barber Mill after receiving a call about the smell of smoke. Nothing was found after walking through the area and checking along the banks of the river.
02:52 Hours – An occupant of 20 Arletta Street was instructed to extinguish a small bon fire after leaving the fire unattended and retiring for the evening. Instructions were also given to obtain a Burn Permit for any future burns he may want to have.
14:20 Hours – The occupant of 60 Armstrong Avenue was advised to obtain a Burn Permit for future burns after Fire Crews extinguished a small fire resulting from a complaint of smoke.
15:52 Hours – Fire Crews from Halton Hills responded to a large grass fire on 5595 25 Side road (Milton) after a small bon fire spread into a nearby field. Milton Firefighters arrived shortly afterwards to assist in bringing the fire under control. Favorable wind conditions and aggressive actions by firefighters allowed the fire to be brought under control and contained relatively quickly. An extensive number of cedar rails and fencing were also consumed in the fire.
16:37 Hours – A burn complaint resulted in the fire being extinguished at a property on 13066 Dublin Line.
17:45 Hours – A burn complaint and no current Burn Permit resulted in a fire being extinguished at 20 McIntyre Crescent. The occupant was advised of the Permit requirements in the event he wants to conduct future burns.

02:56 Hours – Fire Crews responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1 Queen Street East in Acton. The single vehicle accident involved a Hyundai Sonata which had crossed the highway and crashed head-on into a tree. A male passenger had suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Crews assisted EMS with first aid and packaging of 3 patients in preparation for transport to Hospital.
16:02 Hours – Fire Crews checked throughout the area of the Maple Avenue bridge after receiving a call of smoke in the area. Nothing was found.
19:35 Hours – A small fire conducted earlier in the day was thought to have been out, but later spread into dry grass and brush. The homeowner at 11919 Sixth Line was advised to ensure any future fires are completely extinguished before leaving it unattended.
22:16 Hours – Fire Crews responded to hydro lines arcing on the Fourth Line, south of Highway 7. Crews secured the area until Halton Hills Hydro arrived and took control of the scene.
Sunday April 4, 2010
16:23 Hours – An outdoor lighting transformer and wiring melted and fused together at a 19 Turtle Lake Drive home. Crews removed the transformer from the circuit, thereby isolating any power to the unit. The homeowner was advised to contact a qualified Electrician to troubleshoot the system and make any necessary repairs.
Milton Fire Department reported they did not respond into Halton Hills this past week.
