Emergency crews raced to an area near 9th line and 10th side road, where the helicopter carrying two people crashed behind St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic School around 2 p.m. today. Two men were rushed to hospital.

Witnesses told in-Georgetown that the helicopter had been had been attempting to land, when the tail end hit the ground, flipped over and crashed.

Both males, one from Georgetown the other from Acton, were taken to nearby Georgetown Hospital with varying degrees of injuries before one of them was airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, police said.

Police have cordoned off the area while the investigation continues. The Federal Transportation Board has been called in to investigate.
