Georgetown High School Lockdown False Alarm

Halton Regional Police Service

The Halton Regional Police Service responded to the Christ King High School Guelph St, Georgetown on September 21st, 2010 at approximately 11:15 am. School staff contacted police after receiving a report a former student was in the school, possibly armed and searching for a 15 year old Christ King Student. A lock down was initiated by the school. Police quickly arrived on scene and began a search of the school.

Information received from witnesses led to the arrest of a 16 year old suspect at another location a short distance away on Guelph St. Police continued to investigate the matter and have determined the incident did not occur as originally reported. Police have determined there was never any danger to any students in the school and the suspect was not at the school at the time of the incident.

The lockdown process is part of a partnership between the Halton School Boards and the Halton Regional Police Service. The lockdown serves to ensure the safety of students and staff.
