Glen Williams and CFUW Presentations

Committed to sustainability and environmental leadership, as well as to effectively engaging a broad spectrum of community stakeholders in order to increase community awareness of sustainability issues and educate, inspire and motivate individuals to adopt green lifestyles, the Town will be participating in two upcoming community events focused on environmental issues.

The first event will take place from September 12th to 13th, 2008 at the Williams Mill in Glen Williams, Georgetown. Under the theme of “There’s No Place Like Home”, this Speaker Event will present a Creative Expression of the views of thirty four artists from across Ontario on current environmental issues. The event will focus on how individuals can contribute to environmental health. The speaker lineup will include a presentation by Damian Szybalski (Town of Halton Hills Sustainability Coordinator). Damian’s presentation will provide an overview of the Green Plan project, the Plan’s key content, the key challenges faced in the course of its development, and the next steps on the Town’s journey towards sustainability. The second event will take place on October 25, 2008. It is being held by the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Georgetown who will be hosting a gathering for members of all Southern Ontario CFUW Clubs in Georgetown at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club. The theme of this year’s gathering, which is focused on environmental issues, is “How Green Is Your Club?”. The speaker lineup for this event will include a presentation from Mayor Bonnette, focusing on the Town’s sustainability journey, specifically the Town’s Green Plan.
