Residents are invited to join in the Town’s Earth Day Celebration on Saturday April 26th for the Ninth annual tree sale from 8am til 2pm at Robert C. Austin Operations Centre, 11620 Trafalgar Road. 1400 trees will be sold at the subsidized rate of $5/tree with a limit of 4 per person until 10 am. “Earth Day is a terrific way for each of us to participate in a community effort to improve our planet for future generations,” said Councillor Jon Hurst of the Town’s Green Plan Task Force.
Free wood chips and compost will be available but people must bring their own containers and shovels. People are asked to please donate non-perishable food items or make a cash donation for the Food Bank in return for the free compost material.

Environmental displays by local groups, advice from Master Gardeners, entertainment and refreshments will also be available. This year the Guelph University Wildlife Education and Environmental Program (WEEP) will bring four birds of prey, peregrine falcon, broad-winged hawk, great horned owl and turkey vulture for display.
