Due to the demand for H1N1 immunizations across Halton, Halton Region has made significant changes to its clinics to ensure the most efficient and effective administration of vaccines to residents.
With the expertise of the trained professionals, Halton Region has been able to dramatically increase the number of residents processed through the clinics. As of end of day on November 2nd, Halton Region has administered 24,125 doses of H1N1 vaccine. As well, Halton doctors, hospitals and long term care centres have received 19,875 doses. To put this into perspective, the number of immunized people would fill the Air Canada Centre twice or over half fill the Rogers Centre/Skydome.
“I would also like to thank all the Halton residents that have come out to our clinics for their patience while waiting in line,” commented Regional Chair Gary Carr. “I have personally spoken to hundreds and hundreds of residents at our clinics, and we have heard many very kind words from many of our residents who had a positive experience while at our clinics. We have posting some of these comments on our website.”
Halton Region has been the first municipality in the Province to activate their Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to effectively manage the rapidly changing information and to make effective decisions with respect to the vaccination clinics.
