The Halton Region Health Department today recognized nine workplace cafeterias that have made a commitment to healthy living by successfully achieving their 2010 Eat Smart!® Workplace Cafeteria award. Eat Smart!® is a provincial award program designed to recognize workplace cafeterias that provide and promote healthy eating and food safety. The presentations were made at a breakfast networking event for Halton workplaces held at Halton Rattlesnake Point Golf Club in honour of Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month.
“Congratulations to these Halton workplaces,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “To receive the Eat Smart!® Award of Excellence, workplaces must comply with 14 nutrition standards and six food safety standards. This award acknowledges a commitment to good nutrition on the part of these nine organizations, which ultimately benefits employees and their families, cafeteria staff, and workplace visitors.”
