“From the launch of the GreenCart program to a tax reduction of 0.6 percent for Regional services, I am proud to share some of Halton’s major achievements in 2008,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “The accomplishments in this report reflect the great work of Regional staff, working in conjunction with Regional Council to deliver high quality services and programs in a manner that is fiscally responsible.”
In addition to the Region’s audited financial statements, the Progress Report features performance measures, from the Ontario Municipal Performance Measurement Program, which offer snapshots of the Region’s successes and opportunities for the future. Performance measures and goals are also an important part of the Region’s annual budget process.
“Continually identifying areas for improvement is part of the Region’s commitment to Halton’s taxpayers,” said Jane MacCaskill, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Regional Treasurer. “It is the Region’s responsibility to present information about how well Halton is living up to that commitment.”
The 2008 Ontario Municipal Performance Measurement Program results for Halton Region are also now available to the public.
