Halton Region to host the first of four Special Waste Drop-off events

On Saturday, April 30, Halton Region will hold the first of four Special Waste Drop-off Days. Waste Drop-off Days were established to make the recycling and safe disposal of household hazardous waste and electronic waste more convenient for residents. The first event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre located at 11620 Trafalgar Road in Georgetown.

“Recycling and the proper disposal of household hazardous waste and electronic waste is important to protecting the environment,” said Halton Regional Chair, Gary Carr. “Special Waste Drop-off Days allow residents a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of these items.”

The April 30th event in Georgetown will run in conjunction with the Town of Halton Hills’ Earth Day celebration. Acceptable items for drop-off include pesticides, paint, motor oil, antifreeze, propane tanks, computers, stereos, TVs, DVD players and VCRs. Residents may drop off these items free of charge. Special Waste Drop-off Days are for Halton residents only. Halton Region will also host Special Waste Drop-off Days on the following dates:

Residents who are unable to attend one of the events may drop off acceptable hazardous waste and electronic items free of charge at the Halton Waste Management Site, 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton, Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
