Kids may actually look forward to their next meeting with the police, thanks to a program developed by Mac’s Convenience Stores that rewards positive behaviour with a very cool treat.
Through Operation Freeze, police officers will “ticket” youth with Froster coupons when they are observed doing something positive in their community; such as volunteer work, following safety rules or deterring crime. The free Froster coupons will be issued during the school year and throughout the summer months.
The 5th Anniversary of the program will see 60,000 Operation Freeze coupons distributed to the various police services in Central Canada; in the areas where Mac’s operates stores and will continue to assist enhancing police relations with the young people of their community.
“These coupons are excellent tools for police officers who are patrolling our communities”, says Sean Sportun – Manager, Loss Prevention & Security for Mac’s in Central Canada. “It’s an icebreaker, a way to initiate communication in a non-threatening, non law-enforcement setting.”
Deputy Chief Bob Percy remarked, “The Halton Regional Police Service is proud to participate in a program that rewards youth for responsible and considerate behavior. Any initiative that promotes positive interactions with youths in our community benefits us all.”
The launch date for Operation Freeze is Monday June 20th . The coupons can be redeemed at the seven Oakville Mac’s Convenience Stores.
