If you have been seeking a volunteer opportunity to help serve your community and have always wanted to learn about policing then this may be an opportunity for you! The Halton Regional Police Service Auxiliary Policing Services Unit is currently seeking additional members.

The Auxiliary Policing Unit has been in operation since 1989. Auxiliary officers receive over 100 hours of training, including legal training in powers of arrest, ethics, traffic direction and use of force training. Auxiliary members are commonly utilized to augment the activities of police officers at annual events such as Fall Fairs, Christmas Parades, and the Burlington Sound of Music Festival. Auxiliary officers will often accompany police constables on general patrol duties. For more information on the minimum requirements for applicants, visit the Services website at www.haltonpolice.ca.

The first phase of the selection process which consists of General Aptitude Testing is planned for the end of September. Qualified applicants will receive a written invitation, which outlines their exact testing date, time and location. Applicants who have recently submitted an application need not re-apply.

To apply to the unit please forward a Volunteer Application to Staff Sergeant Robert Lloyd, Community Policing Support, Halton Regional Police Service, and 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville, Ontario L6M 3L1.
