On Tuesday June 7th, 2011, the Halton Regional Police Service and other community partners will be hosting “Dollars & Sense”, a FREE, interactive, educational event for seniors, caregivers, and family members.

This event is being held at Tansley Woods Community Centre, 1996 Itabashi Way, Burlington, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

The event is being presented in partnership with the Halton Elder Abuse Prevention Network, Burlington S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together), the Bank of Canada and the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (ONPEA).

June 15th marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and this year the Halton Elder Abuse Prevention Network chose to focus on “Financial Safety for Seniors”. A representative from the Bank of Canada will be teaching attendees how to recognize and refuse counterfeit money, ONPEA will be presenting on “Preventing the Financial Abuse of Seniors” and Constable Wendy Moraghan, Elder Services Coordinator for the Halton Regional Police Service, will be discussing the abuse of Power of Attorney.

Please join us on June 7th for this FREE, informative event.
