Due to the shortage of H1N1 vaccine, Halton Region is temporarily closing the H1N1 immunization clinics. Clinics will resume for people who are considered high priority by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care when more vaccine is received.
“We have staff ready and willing to immunize now,” said Gary Carr, Halton Regional Chair. “At present we are just waiting on more vaccine from the Federal Government.”
Please note that there is still a limited supply of unadjuvanted vaccine, and it will be available to pregnant women only at the H1N1 immunization clinic in Oakville. Visit www.halton.ca or dial 311 for details. You can also contact your doctor’s office to find out if the vaccine is available there.
“We are expecting another smaller allotment of vaccine early this week,” said Dr. Bob Nosal, Halton’s Medical Officer of Health. “That vaccine would be available for family physicians and for Health Department clinics for priority groups identified by the Ministry.”
When Halton Region receives more vaccine and is able to reopen the H1N1 immunization clinics, information will be made available through website and by dialing 311. It is important to visit the website or dial 311 prior to leaving for an H1N1 immunization clinic in Halton to ensure you have the most up-to-date clinic schedule.
