On Sunday, November 14, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m., Brenda Lewis will perform at the Halton Region Museum as part of the fall Jazz at the Museum concert series. The concert will be staged in the historic Alexander Barn’s Hearth Room.

“There are just two concerts left in the Fall 2010 Jazz at the Museum series,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “If you enjoy music, performed in a gorgeous setting, on November 14 consider a drive to the Halton Region Museum, located in Kelso Conservation Area.”

Since the jazz series was launched at the Museum last year, it has been steadily increasing in popularity. For the November concert, Lewis will perform with pianist John Zadro. Lewis’ recent CD “JAZZLIKE” features pieces written in the style of classic jazz standards, along with western swing, rhythm and blues, and torch ballads.

In the nineties, the versatile Guelph vocalist sang gospel and blues before making the transition into the world of jazz and torch. Lewis currently performs with such well know jazz musicians as guitarists Margaret Stowe and Tony Quarrington; pianists John McLelland and Chris Wilson; acoustic bassists Jeff Bird (tours with Cowboy Junkies), and percussionist Tom McLelland, to name a few.

“Brenda Lewis has a warm and full-bodied voice, perfect for a November afternoon,” said Steve Baker, Halton Museum Foundation Chair and Jazz Series spokesperson. “Her songbook includes timeless tunes from the 1920s to today.”

Proceeds from the event go to the Halton Museum Foundation, an independent fundraising arm that supports the Museum’s capital renovation campaign.
