The Town is pleased to be moving ahead with another important initiative that will help to implement the Green Plan. The LED Seasonal Light Rebate initiative is being launched in partnership with the Town’s Office of Sustainability, Halton Hills Community Energy Corporation and local retailers. By encouraging the replacement of inefficient lights with efficient LED (light emitting diode) lights, the Office of Sustainability will be making it easier for residents to adopt more sustainable practices, help reduce energy use during the holiday season, and increase public awareness around energy conservation.

Speaking about the LED Seasonal Light Rebate initiative, Mayor Bonnette said:
“The Town is committed to energy conservation. We are very pleased to partner with Halton Hills Community Energy Corporation, and our local businesses in order to offer this practical initiative.

Through this initiative, we are once again demonstrating that we are committed to energy conservation and Green Plan implementation. This initiative relates to Recommendations 13, 25, 59 and 68 of the Green Plan.

We also want to make it easier for residents to adopt more sustainable practices by making it more affordable to purchase products that promote energy conservation. At the same time, by working with local retailers, we are supporting the ShopLocal initiative by offering our own ‘mini green economic stimulus package’.”

Using LED lights instead of traditional incandescent lights can significantly reduce energy use and electricity costs since LED lights are much more efficient and last longer.
