Recognizing the importance of sourcing electricity from renewable sources, the Town is pleased to announce that a recent local event, Light Up The Hills, was bullfrogpowered TM with 100% green electricity. The event supported renewable energy by sourcing 100% green electricity from Bullfrog Power, a green energy provider.
On behalf of the Light Up the Hills event, Bullfrog Power injected green electricity into the Ontario electricity grid to match the amount of electricity used by this event. Bullfrog’s green power is sourced exclusively from wind and low-impact water power producers who meet or exceed the federal government’s EcoLogoM standard for renewable energy.
Speaking about Light Up the Hills being bullfrogpowered, Mayor Bonnette noted that:
“By using 100% green electricity, Light Up the Hills event organizers demonstrated that it is possible to take practical steps to contribute to sustainability.”
As Chair of the Light Up the Hills Committee, Gerry Kentner noted that:
“I am very proud of this project and excited to have been able to take Light Up the Hills one step further by supporting green power generation, while offering a positive event for our community to be proud of and enjoy.”
Councillor Dave Kentner, a Committee member, said:
“Light Up the Hills was not only a Winter Festival that showcased Halton Hills as a friendly community, but also as a community committed to sustainability.
By opting to use energy-efficient LED lights rather than traditional, less efficient lights, and by choosing to be bullfrogpowered, Light Up the Hills showcased Halton Hills as a community that is taking local action on clean air and climate change.”
