(NC) – This Movember (a.k.a. November) you’ll notice something popping up on lips of men across Canada. That’s because the ultimate symbol of masculinity, the stache, is also a symbol of an international campaign to raise awareness about prostate cancer. One in seven Canadians will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the next year alone. And despite high cure rates with early detection, 4,000 Canadians will die from it in that same time.
For many Canadians, asking friends and family for donations can be an uncomfortable situation, which is why the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas at Rickard’s want to share these tips on how to have fun while making a difference in men’s health.
Mo Food and Drink
Instead of just the basic ‘ask for cash’, be creative and turn your regular Thursday night poker game, Sunday football gathering, or weekend get-together into your own personal stache bash. To start with, in lieu of bringing food or throwing in on a pizza tell your guests that the food’s on you in exchange for a donation to a great cause. Provide finger easy to prepare, cost effective food like sliders, pizza or an array of cheeses then put your friends’ donations to a great cause. Pair your munchies with a variety of limited editions beer cans from Rickard’s, featuring famous moustaches including ‘the walrus’, ‘handlebar’, ‘chevron’ and ‘imperial’ styles. With an assortment of Mo food and drink like this, you’ll be sure to get everyone mo-tivated to give.
Mo Money
Much like growing a moustache, throwing a Movember fundraiser is all about your own personal style. Stick with your strong suits when planning and know what your guests will enjoy. Charge cover charge at the door, raffle off a few prizes, or have a little fun and create a 50/50 split on proceeds by challenging your guests to a competition—think trivia, a poker game for a cause, a friendly sports wager or even a good old fashioned arm wrestle challenge.
Lastly, make it easy for guests, have a laptop or two set up to access MoRickards.ca so guests to build their fundraising profile, get in on the action and into the spirit of giving.
