On the 27th of May 2010, at approximately 4:30PM, a Dodge Caravan driven by a sixty-two year old male was traveling south-east on Mountainview Road in the Town of Halton Hills (Georgetown.) Upon entering the intersection of Mountainview Road and Maple Avenue the Dodge Caravan struck a vehicle in the intersection. The Dodge Caravan then continued south-west on Maple Avenue, without stopping at the scene of the collision.
As the Dodge Caravan continued its travel on Maple Avenue it also collided with an Acura TL, driven by a fifty-five year old female. The impact of that collision caused a chain reaction resulting in three other vehicles being involved in the incident. The driver of the Acura was airlifted from the scene to a Toronto area hospital with life threatening injuries. Several other parties, including the driver of the Dodge Caravan, were transported to local area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The fifty-five year old female remains in a Toronto area hospital in a serious but stable condition.
At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate this collision. Witnesses are asked to contact Detective Constable Cormier at 905 825-4747 extension 5066 or Detective Constable Buys at 905 825-4747 extension 5224.
