Halton Region Health Department is pleased to announce that is a new well water depot located at the Town of Milton’s Fire Station #2 (Campbellville), 2665 Reid Side Road, where residents can pick up and drop off well water sample bottles.
The Fire Station’s Lobby/Kiosk will be open for sample drop-offs 24 hours a day, Monday to Thursday.
“This is an excellent low-cost, high reward partnership between Halton Region and the Town of Milton,” said Gary Carr, Halton Regional Chair. “Having a depot that is open 24 hours a day between Monday and Thursday will be a tremendous benefit to the community.”
“It is our pleasure to provide a new facility for this important community service,” said Fire Chief Brian Ellsworth. “We would also encourage residents to access some of the fire safety pamphlets provided in this water depot area.”
Well water samples dropped off at the depot are sent to the Public Health Laboratory in Hamilton to be tested for E. coli and total coliform bacteria.
Bacteriological contamination in well water can be easily detected through lab tests. Private well owners are encouraged to test their well water a minimum of three times a year to reduce their exposure to contaminated water and the serious health impacts that can occur.
In addition to the new Campbellville depot, there are seven other water depots located throughout Halton. The additional locations are listed below.
