New family physician arriving in Acton

Members of the Halton Physician Recruitment Initiative are pleased to welcome Dr. Ahmed Alkadhimi to Acton. Dr. Alkadhimi will be joining Dr. Nather Alshakarji and Dr. Dhanya Jayalath during the week of August 18 at the Acton Medical Clinic where he will assume Dr. David Van Der Bent’s practice.

Dr. Alkadhimi has been practising family medicine in Ferryland, Newfoundland for the past three years. He was educated in the Middle East and practised family medicine there for six years prior to immigrating to Canada. In July of 2008 he was granted a licence to practise in Ontario and began making inquiries about moving to Ontario. Dr. Alkadhimi is married and he indicates his family, which includes two school-aged boys, has been looking forward to their move to the area.

Dr. Alkadhimi visited the Acton Medical Clinic and the surrounding area in June of 2008 following several months of inquiries and information-gathering through the Halton Region Physician Recruitment Coordinator. Halton’s Physician Recruitment Initiative is a collaborative effort between Halton Region and representatives from the local municipalities of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville, local physicians and senior area hospital staff.
