Halton Region Health Department is pleased to announce that starting October 7, 2008, there will be three new well water depots in Halton where residents can pick up and drop off well water sample bottles in Acton, Georgetown and Campbellville.

“Bacteriological contamination in well water can be easily detected through lab tests,” stated Dr. Bob Nosal, Halton Region Medical Officer of Health. “No matter how long you’ve been drinking or using the water from your well, it is very important to ensure your well is maintained and that the water is safe for drinking.”

It is recommended that private well owners test their well water for bacteria at least three times per year. The testing is free of charge.

For more information on well water or to order free well water sample bottles, go to www.halton.ca/health or call 1-866-442-5866.
