
Halton Regional Police are cautioning parents and students to be alert and safe while traveling to and from school or while at play. Police are actively investigating four reported incidents where youths were approached by a suspicious male person in a silver vehicle.
All of these incidents took place in the Town of Acton between April 29th and May 25th. The most recent incident occurred on Tuesday May 25th, 2010 at approximately 3:30 pm. A nine year old student was walking home from school along Cobblehill Road when he was approached by a male party wearing a ski mask and a cowboy hat. The male was driving a silver coloured pick-up truck with a silver cap on the box, the pick-up had a large scratch on the driver’s side door. The suspect drove by the youth twice and from his vehicle ordered the youth to get in his car. The youth ran home and reported the incident to his caregiver and the incident was reported to police the next day on May 26th, 2010.
UPDATE – It has been determined through investigation that the above incident is unfounded.
The other incidents reported to police occurred on April 29th, May 1st and May 3rd also in Acton. Those three incidents are reported to involve and older white male, driving a silver four door car.
The Halton Regional Police encourage parents and caregivers to discuss personal safety with their children.
