The Halton Regional Police Service District Response Traffic Unit is pleased to announce the out standing compliance demonstrated by drivers in both Halton Hills and Milton with respect to motorists clearing off their windshields of snow and ice this winter.
In January the Halton Regional Police Service issued a press release to stress the importance of clearing windshields to help keep our communities safer. Usually the number of incidents of drivers not ensuring a clear view contributes, in part, too the numerous collisions reported during the winter months.
Traffic Officers in a recent project, specifically on those days where snow and/or colder weather necessitated this safe practice, found that only 2 drivers were negligent in clearing off their windshields. Officers also noted that speeds on those inclement days were met with caution and a care for others on the roadways. This project was an excellent example of how education can be the cornerstone of Traffic Enforcement.
With the threat of winter storms behind us for another year, focusing now on other safe driving practices will certainly keep our communities safer.
Please drive safely and remember “Hang up and buckle up before setting your vehicle in motion”
