On Monday, April 21, 2008 Town of Halton Hills Council approved the acquisition of a 2-acre property in Limehouse, Ontario. This transaction achieves a number of the Town’s Strategic Goals, including the enhancement and preservation of the Town’s natural and cultural heritage.
Located directly across the street from Limehouse Public School, the site has been functioning as a salvage yard. “There is no doubt that the decommissioning of the salvage yard in the centre of Limehouse will serve the area well from an environmental standpoint” says Mayor Rick Bonnette, “but more importantly, this site has a number of important attributes, including an historic horse mill that was once used for the production of lime.”
Staff and Ward Councillors will be hosting a Public Meeting in the near future at the Limehouse Town Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about the Town’s plans for decommissioning and developing the site.
The Town is also looking forward to continuing their working relationship with the Limehouse Kiln Society and Bruce Trail Association, who have previously declared their interest in this site.
