To protect public health, access to the water supply at the Kilbride water trough, located on city property on Cedar Springs Road, has been disconnected effective Monday, July 28.
“The city is working with the region to inform residents of the closure of the Kilbride water trough,” said Burlington City Manager Roman Martiuk. “With the location open to the public, safety is a top concern.”
To protect public health, Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health has recommended access to the well-based water supply at the Kilbride water trough be discontinued. The Health Department conducted an investigation and found that the well is private and unregulated, and unsuitable for use as a public drinking water supply.
Letters were delivered today to Kilbride residents, and a news release will be posted on both the city and region’s websites. A sign has been posted on the site indicating that access to the private water source has been removed.
