As some private companies may approach homeowners about testing their water, Halton Region wishes to remind residents that Regional staff at the six water purification plants and throughout the water distribution system rigorously sample and test Halton’s water quality. Resident water samples are not solicited door to door by Halton Region.
“One of Halton Region’s most important responsibilities is providing residents with clean, safe, drinking water, whether that water comes from Lake Ontario, or a municipal well,” said Regional Chair Gary Carr. “Halton residents expect the best from Halton Region and that is why our highly qualified and licensed staff perform regular testing to make sure we consistently meet or exceed Provincial water quality standards set by the Ministry of the Environment.”
Residents may be approached from time to time by private companies offering to test water samples from their taps. All Regional staff carry Regional photo identification and will always show their identification to anyone upon request.
