Seniors to Pay Less Tax this Year

Council endorsed recommendations to increase the Seniors Property Tax Rebate program to $400 from $200 starting this year.

The increase in the rebate program will assist eligible seniors with their property tax obligations. This program provides valuable tax assistance to over 150 eligible seniors in our community and the Town continues to receive positive feedback on the programs worthiness.

Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette said “Council has endorsed this great initiative which will double the amount available to eligible seniors and assist in recognizing the contributions that seniors make to our community.”

The Town of Halton Hills, The Region of Halton and the School Board will be
sharing in the cost of this program.

Recipients of the 2007 tax grant will automatically receive an application in the mail in June 2008. Applications are also available on the Town’s website www.haltonhills.ca.
