Halton Regional Police are investigating a serious injury collision in the Town of Halton Hills.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday November 16, 2011 a transport truck carrying in excess of 37,000 lbs of steel was eastbound on Steeles Avenue approaching Sixth Line. For reasons not confirmed at this time, a 2006 Nissan Murano SUV that was travelling westbound on Steeles Avenue suddenly veered into the side of the transport truck. The ensuing collision caused the Nissan to roll several times and land on its roof on the roadway. The truck came to a stop just east of Sixth Line.

The driver of the truck, a 47 yr old male from Fournier, Ontario was not injured. However, the driver of the Nissan, a 21 yr old Milton woman sustained serious injuries and was taken by Halton EMS directly from the scene to Hamilton General Hospital.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called in and have taken carriage of the investigation.

Steeles Avenue was closed in both directions for six hours while reconstructionists collected evidence and measured the scene.

Witnesses are asked to contact Det.Cst. Dave McDougall of the CRU at ext. 5065.
