The John Elliott Theatre is proud to announce that it will be presenting professional popular entertainment to the public.
After taking a risk on bringing in artists to the John Elliott Theatre for the 25th Anniversary celebration in 2006, the Town has decided to continue the tradition of bringing professional entertainers to Halton Hills. In 2006/2007, the Theatre will be presenting three shows, and is considering expanding the repertoire of entertainment for future years.
On Saturday, November 3, 2007, the Second City Canadian Touring Company performs The Best of the Second City, a hilarious revue featuring some the best scenes and songs from almost 50 years of comedy. This show will also feature their trademark improvisation and new scenes created just for this tour.
On Saturday, January 26, 2008, Mediterranean guitarist Pavlo will perform at the JET. Described as “the Greek god of the guitar”, Pavlo is a composer, a guitarist, a singer and a recording artist. He composes in a style of music best described as “Mediterranean music”. A music that combines influences of Flamenco, Latin, Classical and Mediterranean guitar mixed together with the Greek Bouzouki.
On Saturday, March 8, 2008, the Theatre presents Valdy, who has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for over 34 years. A man with a thousand friends, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to Texas to New Zealand, he’s a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.
“I think it’s important for local theatres to offer the opportunity for residents to enjoy entertainment that isn’t normally available locally”, says Theatre Supervisor Jamie Smith. “In addition to professional popular acts, we’re also considering World Music acts, and possibly showing films that were featured in the Toronto International Film Festival.”
The show time for all three shows is 8pm. All tickets for these shows are priced at $35, and can be purchased at the John Elliott Theatre Box Office in the Halton Hills Cultural Centre, at (905)877-3700 or online at www.haltonhills.ca/theatre
