On Wednesday December 1st, 2010, members of the Halton Regional Police Service took part in the launch of the second annual Lock It or Lose It program, a proactive crime prevention program that encourages drivers to take a few simple precautions to protect their vehicles and vehicle contents from theft, just in time for the holiday season.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), and Mac’s Convenience stores are joining forces to promote this program across the province of Ontario.

Remember, an unlocked door or an open window is an invitation to thieves.
The Lock it or Lose It program goes hand in hand with the Halton Regional Police Service’s “No Valuable On Board” Campaign which is offered all year long.

Members of the Halton Regional Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service Auxiliary Unit and Citizens on Phone Patrol will be visiting shopping locations region wide to remind motor vehicle owners to remove their purchases and valuables from sight this holiday shopping season.

The Halton Regional Police Service would like to provide these tips to help make your holiday season a happy one:
