
During the annual volunteer recognition awards ceremony, the Lifesaving Society recognized Joanne Wilson, Gellert Facility Supervisor for Town of Halton Hills Recreation & Parks, with the Commonwealth Service Cross Award and the Society’s Centenary Medal.
Joanne’s Lifesaving Society career spans 26 years since she was certified as a Lifesaving Instructor. Her many volunteer portfolios include Lifeguard Competitions Committee member, Fundraising Events Coordinator, Award Fee Committee member, Chairman of the Society’s Annual Lifesaving Conference Committee, Chairman of the Regulation Review Committee and she also served as Area Chairman for Halton. Today Joanne is the Chairman of the Court & Inquest Findings Committee. For her extraordinary leadership and commitment to public safety, Joanne received the Society’s Service Cross.
The Lifesaving Society also announces that Joanne Wilson has been awarded with the Society’s Centenary Medal. This recognition pays tribute to individuals who have made significant contributions to the mission of the Society. Recipients are individuals whose past leadership and achievements have significantly impacted the shape and culture of the Society, or individuals who have demonstrated through their leadership, the qualities and potential to lead the Society into the future. Joanne receives the Centenary Medal for leading aspects of the Society at the local and provincial levels.
