Trafalgar Road Closed – Collision

At approximately 11:04am August 5th, 2009, a collision between a small car and tractor trailer resulted in the closure of Trafalgar Road between 5 and 10 Side Road for three hours. The road has since been reopened.

A northbound car was attempting to negotiate a left turn into a driveway approximately 500 metres south of #10 Side Road when it was struck from behind by a northbound tractor trailer (unloaded gravel truck). The impact of the collision resulted in the tractor trailer coming to rest in a ditch with the trailer blocking both north and southbound lanes. Two heavy tow trucks were needed to extricate the truck and the road was reopened at 2pm.

Members of the Halton Regional Police Service’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit attended, resulting in several charges being laid against the driver of the tractor trailer.

Amrik SANDHAR, 57yrs old of Brampton was charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:

The owner of the tractor trailer unit, 1516192 Ontario Inc. has been charged with Fail To Ensure Performance Standards are Met.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to the driver of either vehicle.
