Traffic relief is finally in sight for a busy, often dangerous, Georgetown intersection. The Town of Halton Hills recently received notice that the Government of Ontario would contribute $162,000 to the cost of installing traffic signals at Main Street and Highway 7 (Guelph Street).

“I want to congratulate the Town of Halton Hills council and staff for their hard work to make this happen,” said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott. “I very often drive through this intersection, and I know how much these lights are needed.”

Mr. Arnott thanked local Georgetown residents George Power and Karen Scott for drawing his attention to the need for safety improvements.

“People who care about the safety of their streets can make a difference,” he said.

Since the two first approached their MPP in 2008, Mr. Arnott has worked with them, as well as the Town of Halton Hills, staff, and the Ministry of Transportation, to advocate for the traffic lights. He has also written many times to the Minister of Transportation to demand the province provide its share of the funding.

Ted Arnott is the MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills and serves as Tourism Critic for the Official Opposition. He can be reached at his official website.
