The Halton Regional Police Service participated in a multi agency truck Enforcement blitz over two days to enforce safety compliance for heavy trucks in our Region.
On October 22nd and 23rd members of the Halton Regional Police Service, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Ontario Ministry of the Environment and the Ontario Ministry of Finance conducted a multi agency truck enforcement blitz. The purpose of the blitz was to enforce safety compliance for heavy trucks traveling in and through the Region of Halton.
The blitz targeted vehicles travelling along the 401 and on Regional and Municipal roads within North Halton.
A total of 26 full truck inspections were conducted during the two day blitz. Of the inspected vehicles 15 vehicles were temporarily deemed “out of service” at the inspection location and 8 drivers had their vehicle licence plates seized and their vehicles taken off the road. The most common defect in these vehicles was brake related and over-weight infractions.
Investigators issued in excess of 43 provincial offence notices during the campaign. Many warnings were issued for non-equipment related offences as well.
Truck blitzes are an opportunity to address the issue as part of our continued commitment to traffic safety with the region of Halton. The Halton Regional Police Service and the Truck Blitz partners would like to thank the Woodbine Entertainment Group who worked with us in planning this event by allowing us to use their property to conduct the inspections.
