The Halton District School approved the appointment and hiring of two key senior administrative staff at a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2011.

The Board of Trustees recommended the appointment of Rob Eatough as Superintendent of Education, effective September 1, 2011. This appointment fulfils the complement of superintendents on the Board’s senior administrative team, following Ruth Peden’s retirement as Associate Director of Education and the appointment of Jeff Blackwell as the new Associate Director.

Eatough comes to the Superintendent of Education position after 18 years of experience in education. He began his teaching career with the Toronto District School Board. In 1998, he was appointed as the Vice-Principal at W.I. Dick Public School and completed a second appointment as Vice-Principal at Brantwood Public School in 2000. In 2001, he was appointed a Principal and has served in this position for the past 10 years at Heritage Glen, Chisholm and Sunningdale public schools.

Eatough brings a breadth of school-based and system leadership experiences to the role. He has been the Chair of the Halton Elementary Principals’ Association, Chair for Halton Ontario Principals’ Council, a member of the Halton District School Board System Improvement team and coordinating Principal for Halton District School Board elementary summer school programs.

The Board also approved the appointment of Debra McFadden to the position of Executive Officer of Human Resources, effective September 1, 2011. Her appointment follows the recent retirement of Dawn Beckett-Morton from her role as HR Executive Officer. McFadden comes to Halton after 25 years of experience in Human Resources in several educational institutions.

She began her career with the Peel District School Board. In 1999, she secured a position with the Duffern-Peel Catholic District School Board and held senior positions within the Employee Relations Department. Since 2004, McFadden, also experienced in collective bargaining, has been the General Manager of Human Resources for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.

“We are pleased to welcome Robert Eatough and Debra McFadden to the senior admin team,” says Director of Education David Euale. “Both individuals have substantial experience in education, and their skills and dedication will be assets to the Halton District School Board and its students.”
