Unique event for business owners offers "bridges to better business"

On February 25th, 2010, Halton Region’s Small Business Centre will host “Bridges to Better Business – Strategies for Growth” at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Road. This special half-day learning and networking event for Halton Region business owners will highlight strategies that business owners can use to grow their business, and provide participants an opportunity to share best practices and make valuable business connections.

“Events such as “Bridges to Better Business” support small business and the entrepreneurial spirit in Halton,” said Halton Regional Chair, Gary Carr. “They are one more way we are working with our partners to encourage opportunities for local employment that will allow residents to live and work in Halton.”

The keynote presentation will be delivered by internationally renowned professional speaker and consultant Hugh Culver. Mr. Culver operated the first private adventure tour to the South Pole, has golfed at the North Pole, is a seasoned Ironman triathlete, mountain climber, adventurer, and successful business owner. “We’re really excited to bring this opportunity to Halton entrepreneurs,” said John Davidson, Halton Region’s Director of Economic Development. “We have fantastic presenters lined up who will be sure to inspire and offer great content for participants. I know that Hugh’s presentation will energize the crowd and give participants tools that they can use immediately to manage their time and improve their businesses.”

The event, which runs from 7:30 a.m. until noon, includes a full buffet breakfast, keynote address, panel discussion, and break-out sessions. The sessions will be led by business experts Ben Molfetta, Core Marketing Strategies; Jemma Fong, InSite Creations; Yolanda Fitzpatrick and Paul de Burger, Halton Region and Hugh Culver. Topics include Social Media Excellence for Small Business, Selling to the Big Guys, Reclaiming the Clock, Staying Ahead of the Game in e-Commerce, and Creating Credibility for Marketing Results.

Successful local entrepreneurs Julia Hanna, restaurateur; Kelvin Galbraith, The Fitness Firm Inc. and Jacquie Manore, Workload Services Inc., will share advice during the panel discussion, providing a diverse cross-section of information on business growth strategies that participants can use to make a positive impact and increase sales.
