Training is an important part of any organization’s plan to provide the best possible service or program to its members and the community. With this in mind, Town of Halton Hills Recreation and Parks has planned several training opportunities this fall geared towards the many non-profit groups, sport organizations and volunteers within Halton Hills. Sports groups will be especially interested in the training programs designed for coaching.

Training kicks off September 9th and 11th with the NCCP – Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop. This workshop focuses on the Active Start and Fundamentals stages of development in the Long-Term Athlete Development Model, and is designed to suit basic principles of growth and maturation during the critical early years of development when physical literacy is crucial. The course is designed for parents, coaches and youth leaders who are working with children ages 3-10.

Recreation & Parks is proud to be partnering with Community Development Halton and Volunteer Halton for a series of 12 workshops focused on working with volunteers. Workshops will cover topics such as accessing resources in the community, changing volunteer demographics, building productive working relationships, as well recruiting and retaining the right people for the right position. On the day of the workshops, Volunteer Halton will be available as an on site resource to you and your organization.

For program details and information on how to register please visit the Town website or contact the Community Development Supervisor at 905-873-2601 ext. 2262 or email frankp@haltonhills.ca
