The Town of Halton Hills recently celebrated 150 youth volunteers who have been involved in Recreation and Parks programs and events this past year. Collectively, they have contributed over 9000 volunteer hours to children’s programs, events and committees leaving a positive impact on thousands of children and the community as a whole.
Many volunteers were in attendance with their friends and families at their side to celebrate their achievements. Highlights of the night were the awarding of special achievement awards, a video presentation of volunteers “in action” and live music by local musician Brennan Finlay.
Mayor Bonnette spoke at the event and said that, “many of our volunteers have learned that volunteering is a rewarding and valuable experience that helps to build self confidence, discover strengths and talents and develop independence.” Our hope, said Mayor Bonnette, is that “this has been a growing experience that will be with them forever.”
